SPRINGFIELD, Pa. (CBS) — The day after Christmas is full of returns, exchanges, and buying at area stores.

At the Springfield Mall today, many were cashing in on newly acquired gift cards.

Michael, a gamer, said he was purchasing “Skylanders,” which he described as “a game that you put a toy on a portal and it goes on to the TV so that you can play with them.”

He says it’s for Wii, Xbox, or Playstation.

Dee, from Drexel Hill, Pa., was exchanging clothing for a different size, and looking at Christmas ornaments at half-off which she would save for next year.

“From what I see from Hallmark out here, there’s a few things that I see that they still have and I will purchase them,” she said.

Several shoppers noted that Christmas gift wrap and cards were steeply discounted — perfect for those who want to stock up for next year.

Shoppers who were returning or exchanging items said things at most stores seemed to be going smoothly, and having a gift receipt really helped (see related story).

Others said they were just happy to get out of the house for a bit and enjoy the sights.
