Wall Collapse Prompts Evacuation At Hunting Park Day Care Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Fire officials say no one was hurt when part of a wall collapsed on a three-story building located next to a church just off Roosevelt Boulevard at 10th & Courtland streets at about 9:30 a.m. in the Hunting Park section of the city.

Emergency personnel responded to the Harold Davis Memorial Baptist Church at 9th and Roosevelt Blvd. at about 9:30 a.m. after reports of a building collapse. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a wall near the church had collapsed.

A number of children in the Higher Link Learning Assessment Academy day care center were evacuated and were taken to the neighboring church for shelter.

No injuries were reported and the Department of Licenses and Inspections is now inspecting the collapse and determining the structural integrity of the building where the incident took place.
