PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Strong winds may have played a role in a fire that severely damaged a restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday morning.
The fire started at about 3 a.m. at the Ashburner Inn in the 8400 block of Torresdale Avenue in the city’s Holmesburg section.
According to fire officials, high winds brought down electrical wires that landed on an outside freezer at the restaurant. A fire then started and quickly spread to the restaurant.
The fire was placed under control at about 3:45 a.m., but not before causing heavy damage to the establishment.
Investigators say one person was injured.
The fire remains under investigation.
