Police Searching For Suspect Who Attacked, Robbed Priest In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia police are trying to find a suspect who they say attacked and robbed a priest in Center City Wednesday afternoon.

The incident took place in broad daylight on the 1100 block of Walnut Street. It was 3:30 in the afternoon and a 65-year-old man, who is an Episcopalian priest, was waiting for a SEPTA bus. Police say an unidentified man then approached him and sprayed him with some kind of chemical.

The suspect then went through the victim's left pants pocket and took a money clip with $125 according to police. Authorities say the suspect then fled west on Walnut Street.

The victim was taken to the hospital and was treated and released.

Police describe the suspect as black, average build, dark hair, having a thick bushy mustache and at the time wearing all dark colored clothing and a dark knit cap.
