PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are investigating a smash and grab robbery in a Center City hotel early Wednesday morning.
The robbery happened around midnight in the lobby of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown at 12th and Market Streets.
Police say a man smashed a glass display case in the lobby with a brick and ran off with several necklaces and other jewelry.
The case was part of a Landau boutique display, a company that makes high-end jewelry replicas, that look like the real thing.
As Landau phrases it on their website: The finish, weight and feel of our jewelry make it impossible to distinguish it from its more expensive counterparts without a jeweler’s loop.
No word how much was taken, or the exact value.
Police are reviewing surveillance video.
