Wyatt Leads Temple Past Alcorn State 63-46

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Khalif Wyatt scored 20 points and surpassed 1,000 for his career to lead Temple to a 63-46 victory over Alcorn State on Monday night.

The Owls (8-1) led 28-26 after committing nine first-half turnovers, but they broke the game open with a 14-2 second-half run to lead 50-35 with 8:08 remaining.

Wyatt capped the run with three free throws after being fouled on a 3-pointer. The first made the senior guard the 49th Temple player to reach 1,000.

Anthony Nieves, who scored 16 points to lead the Braves (2-8), scored the next seven points to cut Temple's lead to 50-42, but Wyatt answered with five points in a 7-0 Owls run.

Scootie Randall added 11 points and nine rebounds for Temple, Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson also scored 11 and graduate forward Jake O'Brien, making his first Temple start in place of Anthony Lee (illness), had 10 points, three blocks and three steals.
