PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Local activist groups, students, parents and community members plan to come together Saturday afternoon to protest the recommended school closings announced on Wednesday. (see related story)
On Saturday at 12 noon the PCAPS Coalition, Philadelphia Student Union, Youth United for Change, Philadelphians Allied for a Responsible Economy, Teacher Action Group and many other groups plan to march from 17th and Market Streets to the School District of Philadelphia.
Protestors will then rally at School District headquarters where multiple activist groups will speak out against the recommended plan to close 41 community schools in Philadelphia.
At 11 a.m. Saturday morning approximately 25 people had class inside Center City Wells Fargo bank branch to protest the recommended school closings and the alleged role that big banks play in the school budget crisis.
