PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed an 85-year-old woman in Mount Airy Thursday night.
It happened near the vwoman’s home along Stenton Avenue near Murdoch Street, as the victim, Annie Macmanus was crossing the street just before 7 p.m.
Police say the SUV that hit the woman was going south on Stenton and never stopped. She was pronounced dead at Einstein Medical Center.
Investigators believe the SUV has a broken headlight, plus damage to the grill and the hood.
“It’s a terrible loss,” said the victim’s niece. “We’re just begging that somebody does the right thing and turns themselves in.”
