STROUDSBURG, Pa. (CBS) — Mother Nature can be fickle this time of year, but Pocono mountain ski areas are hoping for a blast of winter before the big holiday week.
If it’s lacking and lagging, the mountains still offer a lot of alternative activities.
Rooms and condos are still available for the week between Christmas and New Year, when snow-craving families can get away for a long skiing fling.
But if snow conditions are less than stellar, there certainly are options.
For families with kids who play in the snow at Camelback and Shawnee, there’s the Grey Wolf Resort with its massive indoor water park.
For singles and couples, the Mt. Airy Casino-Resort fills day and night with nonstop action and dining.
Then, for shoppers in the crowd, the Crossings Premium Outlets in Tannersville, Pa. beckon on the Camelback access road.
If your playground is Jack Frost and Big Boulder mountains, look toward nearby Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony for another fun-filled water park, entertainment, and eateries. Mohegan Sun provides the casino action while the eclectic little town of Jim Thorpe, Pa. serves up holiday lights, antiquing, concert halls, art galleries, and boutique shopping.
Something for everyone. But still, let’s think snow!
