Calif. Man Nabbed in Philadelphia, 2 Children Placed in Temporary Care

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia authorities today arrested a California man and recovered his two young children thanks to a tip from a local person who had seen his picture on the FBI's online "Wanted" list.

Officials say the telephone tip received at the FBI office in Philadelphia from a local caller over the weekend led them to 30-year-old Shauntae Edmond Gray, a Reggae musician from Sacramento, Calif.

Gray was taken into custody without incident this morning inside a second-floor apartment in the 1900 block of Hart Lane, in the city's Port Richmond section.

FBI special agent Frank Burton says Gray's children -- five-year-old Anageon Bey-Gray and three-year-old Azhir Bey-Gray -- were handed over to child welfare authorities.

"The Philadelphia authorities will be in contact with the California authorities, and they will place them in the proper facility," Burton says of Gray's children.

Agent Burton says a federal warrant for Gray was issued in California after his girlfriend was arrested for allegedly abusing the boys.

Court records show that Gray had been on the run since September 2010, when he failed to comply with a court order to turn the boys over to child welfare authorities in Sacramento.
