PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – With the holiday-season attractions still at least a week away, December’s second weekend was very slow at multiplexes.
The weekend’s only new high-profile mainstream attraction – the comedy, Playing for Keeps, starring Gerard Butler – could do no better than sixth place, earning an estimated $6-million.
That left the first five slots to holdovers.
Skyfall led the way with an estimated total of $11 million, Rise of the Guardians was second with $10 million, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 took third with $9 million.
Rounding out the top five were Lincoln and Life of Pi.
Next weekend should be a different story with the arrival of the eagerly awaited The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
