PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Authorities say two men wearing badges on neck chains and posing as fake undercover cops stopped a Chevy pick-up truck along Hartel Street in Northeast Philadelphia’s Holmesburg section last night around 10-pm, handcuffed three men, and fled with their truck.
One of the three victims was taken to Aria-Torresdale Hospital to be checked out for an arm injury.
Police have no suspects.
Thirty minutes later, there was a second incident and police insist it was totally unrelated to the earlier one. The second incident took place in the 9000 block of Frankford Avenue near Linden when a man posing as a plainclothes cop stopped a car at the Hess gas station.
Passing members of the police bomb squad saw the car stop, and decided to assist. When they approached the officer, they quickly determined he was an imposter and took him into custody.
