PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Though the Phillies haven’t made a major move yet this off-season, they’ve been involved in plenty of rumors.
B.J. Upton signed with the Braves, but the Phillies were said to have made him a $55 million offer.
Josh Hamilton seems to be close to re-signing with the Texas Rangers, but rumors suggested the Phillies are also interested in the slugger.
Yesterday provided probably the most interesting rumor to date; that the Phillies were in talks with the Arizona Diamondbacks to trade Cliff Lee for outfielder Justin Upton. The rumor was quickly shot down by many reporters, as well as a denied by Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.
It isn’t the first time that Lee’s name has been brought up as a potential trade piece, and not the first time that Justin Upton has been mentioned as a possible outfield solution for the Phillies.
Do you think the Phillies should pursue this trade? Let us know what you think in the comments.
