Officials: Rowan University Student Injured During Science Experiment

GLASSBORO, N.J. (CBS) – Police and hazmat crews were called out to Rowan University following a reported explosion Wednesday night.

According to school officials, some students were conducting a project at Rowan's science center at about 8:30 p.m. when an oxygen tank exploded.

Officials say one student suffered lacerations to her face and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The center was evacuated due to high levels of oxygen.

The incident remains under investigation.
