PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – So what do you do if you have a sports fan on your list and you live in Philadelphia?
The Flyers aren’t playing, the Eagles are less than stellar, the Sixers are so-so, and the Phillies didn’t make the playoffs. So what do you get that sports fan?
“This is a great year to remind everybody of the teams that you root for, the teams that you love and not necessarily a great moment to celebrate any particular individual on those teams,” says Kenneth Shropshire, who teaches the business of sports at the Wharton School.
Dave O’Brien is sports management program director at Drexel and leans towards college football.
“This year it’s an extremely exciting race for the Heisman Trophy, the most outstanding player in college football. That race also represents the race for the most jersey sales this year.”
O’Brien also says the national football championship between Notre Dame and Alabama will probably turn into lots of jersey sales as well.
