70-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Gloucester County; Driver Arrested

MANTUA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – A driver is facing charges after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Gloucester County Monday night.

The deadly incident happened at about 5:50 p.m. in the 300 block of Bridgeton Pike (Rt. 45) in Mantua Township, New Jersey.

According to investigators, 70-year-old Carol Gonzalez, of Gloucester City, was struck by an SUV driven by 50-year-old Jeffrey Bond. Gonzalez was taken to Underwood Memorial Hospital, but later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators say Bond stopped at the scene, but say he had a suspended license. He was arrested for having a suspended driver's license while being involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash.

Bond is currently being held at the Gloucester County Jail.

The deadly incident remains under investigation.
