PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police discovered the body of a man inside a home in North Philadelphia on Sunday after receiving a tip from a suspect already in custody for a homicide that occurred inside the same residence a day earlier.
Investigators say the body of man, 35-45 years old, was found under a pile of trash, covered in lime inside a home along the 1700 block of West Erie Street.
Police say it appeared that the victim had been both shot and stabbed, and that the lime was apparently being used as an accelerant to decay the body.
Authorities say they were acting on information provided to them by a suspect who had been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 26-year-old man inside the basement of the same home on Saturday.
It was not immediately clear whether that suspect was connected to the second death.
