PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Santa Claus came to town Saturday afternoon at the Holiday Spectacular family concert held by the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Kimmel Center.
Jason Shadle is manager of education and community partnerships with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He says this was a show geared towards children.
“So we had a surprise visit from Santa Claus and our storyteller narrated an excerpt from the nutcracker and then also helped lead the holiday sing-a-long,” Shadle explained.
The kids told KYW Newsradio a show like this one certainly got them into the holiday spirit.
“They were doing Nutcracker music and a lady was singing at the end, like Deck the Halls, Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer and things like that,” one boy said.
“It was neat, there was dancing, there’s lots of music, it was very holiday,” a girl explained.
“I like when they played their violin and when the dancers were dancing, it just went good together,” another boy pointed out.
