Penn Ends 5-Game Skid, Beats Binghamton 65-54

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Miles Cartwright scored 15 points and Fran Dougherty scored 11 while grabbing 13 rebounds as Pennsylvania ended a five-game losing streak with a 65-54 nonconference victory over Binghamton on Wednesday night.

The Quakers (2-5) never trailed, but the Bearcats (2-5) kept the lead to single digits until the final 5:26.

Penn increased its lead to 13 points, 62-49, on a layup by Dougherty with 2:43 left.

Both teams shot poorly in the second half, with Penn hitting 25 percent (6 of 24) and Binghamton 22.2 percent (6 of 27). Penn shot 34.5 percent (20 of 58) for the game, Binghamton 29.3 percent (17 of 58).

Jordan Reed scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Binghamton, which had won its last two games after starting the season with four losses. Alex Ogundadegbe grabbed 12 rebounds for the Bearcats.
