TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Two new polls show New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is more popular than ever after Hurricane Sandy.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday finds the Republican’s job approval rating at 72 percent, the highest score ever recorded for a New Jersey governor.
A Rutgers-Eagleton poll shows six out of 10 registered voters now support a second term for Christie.
The 50-year-old announced his intention Monday to seek re-election next year.
Christie carried the Democratic-leaning state by 86,000 votes in 2009, scoring an upset over Democratic incumbent Jon Corzine.
The Quinnipiac poll of 1,664 registered voters has an error margin of 2.4 percentage points. The Rutgers-Eagleton poll of 1,108 registered voters has an error margin of 2.9 percentage points.
