FDA Posts Dog Treat Recall

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Food & Drug Administration has posted a recall of a popular brand of dog treats because of a possible Salmonella health risk.

'Priority Total Pet Care All Natural Bullstrips' tested positive for Salmonella on two lots, prompting a voluntary recall by Carolina Prime Pet Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of dog treats.

The recalled product carries the following information:

Lot Code: 20082712 S3195
Lot Code: 20090312 S3195

'Priority Total Pet Care All Natural Bullstrips' are sold in Genuardi stores in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and in Safeway stores in Delaware.

According to the FDA website, customers who purchased the recalled dog treats should discontinue use immediately, and return items to the purchase location for a replacement or a refund.

Carolina Prime Pet Inc. says it is not aware of any reported cases of illness related to the product.
