PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Macy’s unveils its holiday attractions. They will be open at the store through New Year’s Day.
Macy’s Center City kicks off the holiday season with the opening of the annual Dicken’s Village attraction. James Kenney, vice president and general manager says about 150,000-250,000 people are expected to view the walk-through display that depicts the Charles Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol.
“Tiny Tim, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.”
Another attraction here open for the holiday season is the Macy’s light show which takes place on the hour from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
“It’s about 13 minutes long, it’s in our center court area and its been going since about 1955 here at the Wannamaker Building.”
For many folks, these free attractions are all part of their annual holiday routines.
“To us, it’s our tradition. From my childhood to my children’s childhood, so that’s a nice thing.”
