Loneliness Abounds On Thanksgiving
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - I always worry when it comes time for Thanksgiving. In fact, the entire holiday season concerns me.
The reason why I feel this way is because of the fact that there is such a premium placed on family and personal relationships. This is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a great thing, but for those who feel isolated and alone it can be a very difficult time because that isolation is magnified by the fact that there is such an emphasis on togetherness.
For those who feel particularly alone please take advantage of talking to a health professional and discuss your concerrns. And for those of you who are surrounded by family and friends, please take time to think about those you may be able to help.
