PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Just when you thought there was nothing that an Eagles player can say that would surprise you.

In the most recent issue of Sports Illustrated, there’s a story titled “Does Michael Vick Deserve This?” In it, rookie offensive lineman Dennis Kelly is quoted talking about Vick and his ability to read defenses.

“Peyton Manning would have seen that coming,” Eagles guard Dennis Kelly says of Vick’s not recognizing the blitz. “There are just times when he doesn’t see things. He never really had to worry about reading defenses.”

Is there truth in what Kelly said? Perhaps. Should a rookie fifth round pick be throwing his starting quarterback under the bus in Sports Illustrated? Probably not.
