TREVOSE, Pa. (CBS) — Police in Lower Southampton (Bucks County), Pa. are asking for help from the public as they try to identify two men who robbed an antiques store of several thousand dollars’ worth of gold earlier this week.
Police say two Hispanic males entered the Brownsville Antiques Center in Trevose on Tuesday, and while one distracted the sales clerk the other man repositioned the surveillance cameras away from the jewelry case.
Police say as much as $10,000 worth of gold was stolen.
Detective Eric Landamia says it appears the suspects had either cased the store or had inside knowledge.
“They went right to everything — there was no wandering around or trying to find their way within the store,” Landamia tells KYW Newsradio. “It was bing, bang, boom, and out.”
The surveillance cameras did capture the two men as they walked into the store (photo).
There have been a number of recent jewelry store thefts in the Bucks County area, but police are not sure whether these two men are involved in any of those.
