Center City Restaurant Offering $26,000 'Truffle Dinner'

By Chelsea Karnash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – In the food world, truffles are synonymous with wealth and luxury. But one Center City restaurant is taking that to a whole new level.

As part of its "Truffle Week," Chestnut Street Italian restaurant Le Castagne is offering an uber-exclusive nine course dinner for four that focuses on the rare subterranean mushroom – to the tune of $26,000.

In addition to a menu of edible delights such as beef tartare with marinated pioppini mushrooms, shaved parmesan cheese, quail egg, and white truffle ricotta mousse; roasted quail stuffed with house made sausage, potato, guanciale and finished with black truffle demi-glace; and fillet of dover sole stuffed with scallop, shrimp mousse and black truffle beurre blanc, guests will also get a Panerai Luminor Titanio wristwatch and take a one-on-one cooking class with Chef Michael DeLone.

And don't worry: If 26 grand is too much to blow on one meal, there's always Le Castagne's $700 per couple "Truffle Lover Premium Package," or the "Celebration of Truffle Deluxe Package" for $250.
