WESTAMPTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – An actress famous for her role on “Beverly Hills 90210” used the power of social media to check on a fan in New Jersey she believed was in danger.
According to a statement posted on the Westampton Township’s community notification website, actress Shannen Doherty called the township’s police department on November 11th after receiving concerning messages from a female fan on Twitter.
Doherty, who was in California, told police she was concerned for the woman’s well being and safety.
According to the township’s Nixle community notification website, the female gave Doherty her address voluntarily and police went to the home on South Hill Drive.
When officers arrived, they were met by family members of the 27-year-old who escorted police to the woman’s room.
After speaking with the woman, police said they found no signs of her attempting to harm herself. The community notification website stated that the woman told police she did not wish to harm herself and denied medical attention and police left the home.
After police left the home and found the woman to be safe, Doherty took to Twitter and thanked police. She wrote: “Thank you to the Westampton police department for being diligent and so reassuring.”
