Woman Whose Complaint Led To Petraeus's Resignation Has Local Connections

By John Ostapkovich

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The woman whose complaint eventually led to former CIA director General David Petraeus's resignation last Friday (see ralted story) is from the Philadelphia area.

The other woman's presumed other woman is Jill Kelley, formerly Jill Khawam of the Northeast and Huntingdon Valley. She's the daughter of Lebanese immigrants.

Her marriage to Dr. Scott Kelley led her to put down roots in the Tampa area, and as she did volunteer work at the military base where David Petraeus was stationed for a time, the couples became friendly.
There is no indication the relationship went beyond that, except in the mind of Paula Broadwell who sent nasty emails telling Kelley to back off.

A second local connection is that the Petraeus biography, with Paula Broadwell's name in big print also has on its cover the name of co-author and former Inquirer editor Vernon Loeb. Now with the Washington Post, Vernon is the husband of KYW Newsradio reporter, Pat Loeb.
