VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — Kevin Monangai ran for 150 yards while John Robertson rushed in two touchdowns and threw for another as Villanova dropped James Madison 35-20 Saturday in Colonial Athletic Association action.
The 100-plus yard effort was the fifth straight for Monangai, who became the fifth Villanova player to run for 1,000 yards in a season, and the first since Brian Westbrook in 2001. He finished the game with 1,044 yards this year.
In the first half, Robertson ran in his first score from 4 yards out, Mark Hamilton hit a 22-yard field goal and Robertson completed a 20-yard TD pass to Dorian Wells as Villanova (7-3, 5-2) built a 17-0 lead.
Justin Thorpe ran in a 1-yard TD for James Madison (7-3, 5-2) in the third quarter, but then the Wildcats strung together 16 straight points on 1-yard touchdown runs by Robertson and Monangai and a safety to ensure the win.
