Jersey Shore Town Extends A Helping Hand To Victims Of Sandy

SEA ISLE CITY, NJ (CBS) – Sea Isle's mayor has announced that the community will be organizing several events to help local Hurricane Sandy victims.

According to Mayor Leonard Desiderio, anyone looking to drop off non-perishable food items or clothing can do so at Sea Isle City's VFW Post 1963, located on JFK Boulevard by the foot of the Sea Isle Bridge.

The VFW Post 1963 will also assist hurricane victims in other ways, including helping residents find reputable contractors. Monetary assistance will be available to VFW veterans who suffered losses during Sandy.

Additionally, the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization is offering 10 families who suffered losses during the hurricane the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving weekend in Sea Isle City -- for free. Several local property owners will donate their homes during Sea Isle's 1st Annual Holiday Extravaganza, taking place from Wednesday, November 21 through Sunday, November 25. The ten families chosen will also receive a full Thanksgiving dinner and other gifts.

Local homeowners who would like to donate their homes during Thanksgiving weekend can contact any realtor in Sea Isle City or phone the Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization at (609) 263-9090.
