PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – “War Horse” makes its Philadelphia premiere at the Academy of Music from November 20th through December 2nd.

Hailed by The New York Times as theatrical magic, “War Horse” is the story of young man who follows his beloved horse into World War I after it’s sold to the English cavalry. The Kimmel Center’s Matt Wolf says the story is told with live actors — and puppets — that bring the horses to life.
“These puppets are ten feet long and eight feet high, and they support riders. One of the most beautiful things you can see is just the horse standing there, and watching him breathe,” says Wolf.
Yet at its heart, “War Horse” is a story of love, loyalty and heroism.
“There’re some incredibly heart-breaking moments, and there are some moments that are just filled with absolute hope and triumph.”
