Alleged Shooter Ordered To Trial After Victim Is Run Over By Car

By Tony Hanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The alleged shooter has been ordered held for trial on a third degree murder charge in the death of a man run over by a car. The bizarre tragedy happened during a rap event in Olney last March.

Prosecutor Carolyn Naylor says defendant Quintien Jenkins admitted shooting at an unidentified man in the crowd of a hundred or more setting off a horrible series of events.

"He dove around a car to get away from the gunshots, unfortunately, just before that happened, the decedent, who was part of that crowd for the rap contest had run into the street along with a number of other individuals who appeared to be getting away from the shooting, had fallen in front of the car and that's when the tragic accident happened, and he was run over by the car," explains Naylor.

Victim Roger Long III was not shot, the car killed him. The driver, who had ducked when the shots started and took off as they got closer, never saw the victim and he was not charged.

The defense attorney declined comment.
