PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — More Star Wars movies on the way? Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm could leave fans and shareholders in 7th heaven.
The purchase along with announcement of more Star Wars movies makes perfect sense to David Robison, A La Salle professor who teaches the economics of entertainment. He says the Stars Wars brand and its special effects house, IndustrialLight and Magic, dovetail with Disney theme parks and film franchises. He says, movie-wise, Disney needs to follow the advice of Yoda…
“Do or do not. There is no try.”
“If Disney can be creative enough and come up with new and interesting stories,” Robison says, “different stories and different characters going in different directions then I think they could make Star Wars run for years and years.”
But Robison says continually re-telling stories of rebels empires could wear out its welcome.
