TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) — Governor Chris Christie Thursday announced that he has granted the Atlantic County government’s request to rescind the mandatory evacuation order for the communities of Brigantine Beach, Margate City, Longport Borough, Wildwood, Wildwood Crest, North Wildwood, West Wildwood, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Sea Isle City, and Ocean City.
As of Friday afternoon, Ventnor residents and business proprietors are now permitted to return to the city to check on their properties with proper identification. Contractors and insurance adjusters will be restricted from entering the city until 6 a.m. on Saturday, November 3.
The towns released from the mandatory evacuation order will continue to operate under locally imposed 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. curfews, until otherwise advised by their local officials.
Mandatory evacuations ordered by the Governor in other areas of the state continue to remain in effect until conditions have been determined to allow for the lifting of travel restrictions and the safe and orderly return of residents.
