CHALFONT, Pa. (CBS) — Some people in Bucks County are taking to social media in an effort to help those who are still cleaning up from Hurricane Sandy.
A Facebook group has been formed to offer help to storm victims in central and upper Bucks County, one of the hardest hit areas of the Delaware Valley.
It was started by Chalfont personal trainer Paul Dziewisz, who says he’s always had a lot of respect for people who travel to other parts of the country and the world to help out in natural disasters.
This one, he says, hit closer to home.
“And when the disaster ends up being right in your backyard, it’s actually pretty easy for folks to do, so this effort is just about trying to organize people who want to help,” Dziewisz tells KYW Newsradio.
He and his Facebook colleagues are hoping to connect volunteers with people who need help. They’re asking people to give up one day this weekend to help clear storm damage from people’s homes and roads.
The Facebook group is Bux-Mont Hurricane Sandy Cleanup Team.
