2 Dead After Bucks County House Fire

BENSALEM, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say two women died after an early morning house fire in Bensalem in suburban Philadelphia.

Jeff Moran, a spokesman for the Philadelphia medical examiner's office, identified the victims as 64-year-old Kathryn Griffin and 90-year-old Helen Markert.

He said they were both pronounced dead at Aria Health-Torresdale in Philadelphia, where they were taken following the 3 a.m. Wednesday blaze.

Three volunteer firefighters were reported injured battling the flames, which were first spotted by a passer-by in the Bucks County community.

Moran said the two were apparent victims of the fire but an official cause of death has not been made.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
