Donovan McNabb Defends Michael Vick

By Spike Eskin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If anyone knows what Michael Vick feels like today, it's Donovan McNabb.

The mobile quarterback who isn't quite as quick as he used to be, leading a team that's not as good as they were supposed to be, while fans call for his young backup to replace him. That was Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb, and this season it's Michael Vick and rookie Nick Foles.

McNabb says if you want to fix the problems the Eagles have, Vick should not be first on the list to be replaced.

"Now do we go back to the benching and talk about Foles again or is this another situation where we begin to start mentioning some of the defensive players that need to be benched," McNabb said as a guest on NFL AM on the NFL Network. "Maybe the offensive line needs to be benched. There's other people that need to be in this situation besides Michael Vick."

The former Eagles starter said that the current Eagles starter needs to keep his focus.

"I think it's important for him (Vick) to feed off of what he did last week, not turning the ball over, protect the football, give his guys an opportunity to make plays for him and good things can happen," McNabb said.
