PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - How about Zagat ratings for hospitals? Would you choose a hospital based on a rating?
Believe it or not those ratings are out there. The only difference is instead of risking a good entree, you are talking about your health.
The 2013 Healthgrades report has looked at 4500 hospitals and measured areas like safety, patient satisfaction, and clinical care. Four targeted areas are coronary artery bypass graft, heart attack, pneumonia and sepsis.
Just to give you an idea, those with a five star rating had a 75% lower risk of dying and 60% lower risk of complications.
So what do you do with this information? It should be just one guide, but an important one. The real message is to research your choices. You would do it for your car. Do it for you and your family’s health.
