Authorities Order Partial Evacuations In Chester For Hurricane Sandy

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) - Officials in Chester have issued a State of Emergency and evacuations have been ordered for residents in Parker Manor.

All residents are ordered to evacuate the area of the 1400 block of Kerlin Streets and 1300 block of Parker Streets, as well as the 600 block of West 13th and 14th streets until the emergency has ended.

Residents may seek shelter at Showalter School at 10th and Lloyd streets starting at 9 a.m. on October 29th.

Family pets will not be allowed to stay at the shelter and emergency services will not be able to care for any pets left behind during and after the emergency. Delaware County in conjunction with Chester Animal control will provide a temporary animal shelter for those staying at Showalter School.

Make sure you have clothing, necessary personal items, any medications or health care items, and your identification information with you before leaving your home.

No one will be allowed in the area until the weather emergency is over and the area has been determined to be safe.
