3 Women Injured In Hit-And-Run In Newark, Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – A 46-year-old man was arrested after a hit-and-run injured three pedestrians in Newark, Delaware early Saturday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. on East Cleveland Avenue.

Police say a 21-year-old female was walking on the road, right next to the curb line, with two 19-year-old females when a 2001 Dodge Dakota Pickup truck hit the 21-year-old.

Authorities report that the two 19-year-olds, who were walking on the sidewalk, were hit with flying debris, one in the back of the head and one in the leg, from the accident.

Police say that Errol L. Johnson of Newark, Delaware, the operator of the vehicle, kept going after the accident, but witnesses were able to get the tag number of the truck.

Officials report Johnson was taken into custody without incident after being found in his vehicle.

The 21-year-old was taken to Christiana Hospital with head and internal injuries and place in serious but stable condition. The 19-year-old that was hit in the head was also taken to Christiana Hospital for a minor cut.
