WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) – The West Chester Borough Council is scheduled to vote on new legislation that would fine smokers for littering their cigarette butts.

According to the Daily Local News, the ordinance was first proposed back in August, but the council will vote on Wednesday night.

If caught littering a cigarette butt or other tobacco material in public, violators would have to pay a fine of at least $100. The council meeting begins at 7 p.m.
