PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – All charges have now been dismissed against the man who had been charged as the Chinatown groper, accused of indecent assault on two victims on the same day in late April.
Defense attorney Richard Hark says charges in one case were dismissed earlier for lack of evidence and now charges in the second case have been dismissed in court because the young victim could not identify defendant Melvin Bulls as the attacker.
“She takes a second, thoroughly looks around the court, looks across at Mr. Bull standing at the bar of the court with me, and said she is unable to identify anybody in the courtroom as the person who committed the assault,” said Hark.
Hark says this is a good example of justice carrying the day because authorities got the wrong man.
Prosecutors have not been available for comment.
