PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – You can rent The Avengers through Redbox, but now those kiosks also can put you in a seat at the Carrie Underwood concert.

The place to get discount DVD’s is getting into the event ticket business, offering tickets to, “Villanova or Lehigh Football, the Pocono Raceway, the Philadelphia Film Festival, and many more local events that are coming.”

Mark Achler, the senior vice president of new business and innovation at Redbox, says their units in the Philadelphia area are the first in the country to sell seats.

“It’s a great live entertainment town.”

While the Redboxes spit out your movies, your tickets will have to be printed at home or picked up at will call.

Tickets also are being sold at their website Redbox.com/tickets.  There’s not a big selection of events, but unlike the bigger ticket guys, the so-called “convenience fee” is only a buck.
