Driver Hospitalized After Violent Crash In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A driver was taken to the hospital after crashing into several objects, including a mailbox, in Northeast Philadelphia early Monday morning.

The incident came to an end in the 7100 block Rising Sun Avenue in the city's Lawncrest section.

According to investigators, the driver hit a street sign, a traffic signal, a tree and a mailbox. The 21-year-old driver was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale Hospital in an unknown condition.

The impact of the crash was so violent that it actually knocked the car battery out of its holding spot.

It was not immediately confirmed, but it is believed that the driver was wanted for several reckless driving incidents throughout Northeast Philadelphia.

The incident remains under police investigation.
