WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian.
According to police, John B. Turner 4th, 41 of New Castle, was struck by an unknown vehicle in the eastbound lanes of West Newport Pike at about 11:40 p.m. on Friday.
Police say the impact threw Turner about 30 feet on to the sidewalk and the vehicle fled the scene.
Paramedics pronounced Turner at the scene.
The eastbound lanes of West Newport Pike were closed for about two hours.
Officials believe the vehicle has damage to the front, right passenger side.
The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate this incident and is asking anyone with information to call 302-834-2620 ext. 244.
