PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society opens its 27th season on October 19th at the Kimmel Center with the acclaimed Shanghai Quartet and pianist Peter Serkin.
The program features works by Mozart and Dvorak and is the local premiere of Bright Sheng’s “Dance Capriccio.”
“The Shanghai [Quartet] and Peter Serkin have known each other for at least 20 years. When you see world-renowned artists come together and collaborate on new music and standard repertoire, it heightens the whole dramatic experience,” says PCMS Artistic and Administrative Manager Miles Cohen of the special event.
And the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society makes great music easily accessible, too.
“Our pricing structure is very affordable, to say the least. It’s $24, no matter where you sit,” Cohen adds.
