Philly Cop To Do 3 Mile Benefit Run In 100-Pound Bomb Suit

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – On October 20th, if you attend the annual Police Survivors 5K run in Northeast Philadelphia, you will most likely see a man running in a 100-pound bomb suit.
Don't be alarmed, he is doing it for a good cause.
Police Officer James Graber will be participating in the 4th annual Police Survivors 5K run. Graber, a member of the Bomb Disposal Unit, will be running the three miles while donning a green, bulky 100-pound bomb suit.
"It is going to be hot, the suit really doesn't breathe well," Graber explained.
Why is he doing this?
"I'm not doing this as a gimmick. I'm doing this to show that we care and that we're there for police officer's families and children who are left behind when the heroes aren't with us any longer."
Graber is asking for as many people as possible to come out and support the event.
"It means a lot to the families to see people come out and actually participate. It's just a way I can give back. The Fraternal Order of Police has done a lot for its officers," Graber explained.
The 4th annual FOP Lodge 5 Survivors 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk takes place Saturday, October 20th at the Philadelphia Police Academy located at 8501 State Road. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m.
