Philadelphia Ranked Among Country's Best Beer Cities
By Chelsea Karnash
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia is known for its cheesesteaks, pretzels and sports fans. Now, we're being recognized for our beer.
GQ has ranked the City of Brotherly Love the "Home of the Perfect Pub Crawl" and one of the top five cities for beer in the country. Among the bars noted in the magazine's version of "the best beer-focused pub crawl in America" are Memphis Taproom, Monk's Café, Alla Spina, Tria, Yards Tasting Room, Standard Tap and Silk City.
Other cities that made the cut are Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco and—somewhat surprisingly—Cleveland.
This isn't the only time Philadelphia's beer culture has been touted. Recently, Esquire listed Philadelphia as its number four pick for "Best Beer Cities in America." And with more than a dozen craft breweries and a ten-day celebration of suds, Philly Beer Week, that's the largest of its kind in the nation, we'll drink to that.
