PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - According to the National Retail Federation, there will be record-high sales of pet costumes this year. Up nearly 20 percent from 2011. So what will your dog be for Halloween?
It’s hard to buy a costume off the rack for Hudson the three-legged 140 pound Saint Bernard according to his owner.
“Usually my wife pressures me into it every year but he is so big it’s hard to come buy.”
Noe Bunnell, owner of BONeJOUR Pet Supply on North Third Street near Arch in old city, talks about some of this year’s hottest selling items.
“Some of our newer ones are the monster paws those have been pretty popular. Any of the cutesy girly costumes like the fairy costume is always popular, the dogasaurus is always popular.”
Costumes run around $20.
Also, what’s Halloween without going trick or treating? Various dog friendly old city business will be handing out pet treats to animals in costume on the Saturday afternoon before Halloween.
