Authorities in Chester County say Phillip Tomsic had been drinking when he borrowed a car last November and drove two friends, Anthony Washington and Kadeem Fulmore, to get a bite to eat.

District Attorney Tom Hogan says they were on Ashmun Avenue in Lower Oxford Township when Tomsic lost control of the car.

"He was driving over 80 miles an hour in a 35 mile-an-hour zone and T-boned a tree. He killed one of his friends and maimed another one of his friends."

Washington was killed in the crash. Fulmore was pinned inside the burning car and suffered severe injuries and burns. He remains hospitalized.

"To students and particularly young men, you are not immortal," Hogan said. "Do not drink and drive or you will go to jail and you will kill your friends."

Hogan says Tomsic played for the Lincoln baseball team. He's now behind bars in Chester County on $75,000 bail.
